2000 to present. Freelance on Pubco Cookery Encylopedia and Editco Eat Healthy series

>Pubco Cookery Encyclopedia
Started as an assistant designer and progressed to Commissioning Designer for illustration within ten months. Have spent about 60% of my time on this project in the last two years.

+Commissioning food and technique illustration from individuals and agencies

+Member of the layout planning team

+Providing watercolour illustrations for fresh ingredients in the encyclopedia. Over 100 illustrations from one-eighth to full page size

Key team member working partly in-house and partly from home. Commissioning to tight deadlines, progress chasing and precise briefing to meet the distinctive house style.

>Editco Eat Healthy series
Page layout designer on this ten-volume cookery and diet international publication.

+Making up spreads to style in collaboration with Editorial, using QuarkXPress

+Scanning and positioning low-resolution images

+Providing tables and diagrams in Quark and Illustrator

+Checking final layouts for repro

Each volume was produced on an 8-week schedule with a 2-week overlap to the next volume, so that it was essential to be able to handle 2 and sometimes 3 volumes at the same time. Liaised with editors of the French language edition, for which my knowledge of French proved a useful asset.
